Fleur de Lac
This 15-acre waterfront community on Lake Tahoe's West Shore is one of Homewood's best kept secrets. As you drive along West Shore Boulevard, all you'll ever see of Fleur de Lac is its massive gate with distinctive copper turrets. With 24-hour security, you don't visit this unique compound unless you own there ~ or have been invited.
Once the summer home of shipping magnate Henry J. Kaiser, the waterfront yacht club housed many of the eccentric industrialist's fleet of racing boats, including his rechristened V-12 hydroplane famous for reaching speeds of 180 mph. The Hornet II (later rechristened 'Fleur de Lac') was powered with airplane engines left over from WWII.
With its sandy bar stretching north toward Tahoe Pines, this stretch of Lake Tahoe was the perfect playground for yacht racing and opulent summer fun later epitomized in the gangster movie Godfather II, which set some of its famous scenes at Fleur de Lac.

The Estate has since been transformed into 22 luxury town homes in a bucolic setting where owners enjoy a full concierge lifestyle with access to the marina, a heated swimming pool, and waterfront Clubhouse . The original yacht club still stands today, and the boathouse has been transformed into a space for meetings and social events for residents and their guests.
Homes at Fleur de Lac rarely come on the market, and when they do, they tend to be snatched up quickly. One 4-bedroom that debuted in the Spring of 2026 had an accepted offer in just 3 days.

A Boater's Paradise
Just a short ride north of the awe-inspiring Emerald Bay, Fleur de Lac offers a range of excellent day trips for boaters. From the private marina where owners moor their boats, you can motor south toward Sugar Pine Point, stopping by the Boater's Bar at Chamber's Landing for refreshments along the way. Continue south toward the crystal clear waters of Emerald Bay and take in the view of Vikingsholm Castle from the water or stop for lunch at West Shore Cafe (where boaters are welcome) on your way home. Back at Fleur de Lac, you can watch the sunset from the elegant deck of the Yacht Club and reflect on an era when founder Henry J Kaiser raced his famed hydroplanes on these same waters.
