Nevada's Toniest Zip Code

When folks refer to "Glenbrook," they usually mean the gated country club on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, but the community stretches a little farther south from there down to Cave Rock along both sides of Highway 50. The gated Glenbrook (and neighboring Uppaway Estates) are just two of several beautiful neighborhoods you will find here along the Eastern Shores of Lake Tahoe.  (Read more ...)

Glenbrook Homes for Sale at Lake Tahoe

Rich in history, this stunning stretch of shoreline at the base of Spooner Summit was first developed by the D.L. Bliss lumber family, who saw in its turquoise blue waters and white sandy beaches the potential for a hotel catering to San Francisco's elite. The Glenbrook Inn's register included luminaries like Ulysses Grant and Clark Gable.

Exclusive & Pastoral

Today, the gated Glenbrook continues to appeal to well-heeled residents who enjoy the tax advantages of living in Nevada and the pastoral setting of this community where residents can hike, golf, play tennis and dine ~ without ever having to drive on a highway.

Homes here vary widely in price, depending on their proximity to Lake Tahoe and acreage. Single-family homes are currently selling for anywhere between $3 - 25 million (or higher for an estate parcel). Behind the gates at Glenbrook you will also find a nice selection of town homes, many of which play like a single-family home with starting prices of less than $3 million. This townhome (pictured below) offers a sweeping view of the Shakespeare Ranch, an expansive property with horses, guest homes, a private pier and a restaurant-style barn that hosts an annual fundraiser rodeo to benefit Alzheimer's research.

Private Concierge-staffed Pier

The sheltered Lake Tahoe cove on which Glenbrook is set offers the perfect launching off point for exploring the Lake by boat. With a large buoy field, and a concierge-staffed pier, boating is a hassle-free experience at Glenbrook.  Just show up, and hand the keys to the boat valet.  With a long, white-sand beach, Glenbrook also offers terrific opportunities for kayaking and paddle boarding.

Nevada's Oldest Golf Course

While golf memberships at Glenbrook are open to those outside the community, residents behind the gate have it best, as they enjoy a lifestyle in which almost everyone gets around on their golf cart. The 9-hole course here is the oldest in Nevada, and while it might not offer the challenges you will find at some of Lake Tahoe's famous championship golf courses, it is arguably among the prettiest.

Glenbrook to Cave Rock

Just south of the gated Glenbrook, Tahoe's shoreline is dotted with a handful of gorgeous lakefront estates which offer park-like settings, privacy, and a front row seat to one of the world's natural wonders. Homes on the dry side of Highway 50 offer stunning views of the Lake (some also include small HOA beaches offering owners private access to Lake Tahoe).

Farther south in Cave Rock, a landmark tunnel built into the mountain, you will find a collection of homes dotting the hillside ~ many with terrific views across the Lake. A boat launch and public beach at Cave Rock also offers easy access.
