Home to the Barracuda Championship, Old Greenwood is a challenging course surrounded by stunning lodge-style homes and town homes (some of which offer fractional ownerships). While it feels exclusive, the course is open to the public, as is its sister course up the road at Gray's Crossing. Both communities are part of the Tahoe Mountain Club, and connected by a golf cart path.

Shares with first dibs to popular weeks like the 4th of July or the Christmas holiday fetch higher sales prices than those offering an off-week in the shoulder season. And many of these properties have converted over the years to private ownership, a trend that's expected to continue. A $1 price tag signals an owner who is anxious to get out from under the yolk of the taxes and HOA fees, which can run upwards of $10k per year, depending on the property.
