Homes for every architectural taste

Architectural styles at Montrêux range from the earlier designs based largely on European chalet-inspired interiors with turrets, wrought-iron spiral stairwells, and massive stone hearths, to more contemporary designs with tungsten-style lighting, quartz countertops and clean lines.

The club was founded in the late-1990s, and many of the early custom homes built at Montrêux were smaller versions of the castles one might find at its namesake -- Montrêux, Switzerland.  (Insiders Tip:  Although Montrêux is named for that famous town above the shores of Lake Geneva, is is not pronounced the same. Reno locals place the heavy accent on the first syllable; hence Móhn-truex. Pronounce it correctly, and locals know you're not from here.)

Within a decade, classic Craftsman-style architectural elements began finding their way into new construction at Montrêux. These designs replaced the marble and tile of years past with more organic finishes such as hardwood floors, big timber beams, and hearths wrapped in ledgerstone. That architectural style continues to underpin the mountain modern trend at Montrêux, where exteriors have remained largely unchanged, but interiors combine cool colors with unfinished hardwoods for a stark look that feels like a contemporary facelift on a French chateau.

Location, location

The old real estate adage has stood the test of time, and Montrêux's location could not be better for the buyer who wants country club living with great amenities, and nature, yet close enough to the urban core to enjoy a range of fine dining, shopping and city life. Nevada's favorable tax climate has made Reno/Tahoe a top choice for retirees looking to escape the burden of California's heavy climate. Montrêux is close enough to Lake Tahoe to enjoy boating, skiing, and all the year-round recreation Tahoe is famous for. But it's location at timberline allows residents to enjoy the snow without having to shovel it. And the Reno airport is just 15 minutes away, making it a great hopping off point for those who enjoy travel.

With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, outstanding golf, and nearby retail that ranges from the Apple store to Pottery Barn, South Reno is hard to beat. And Montrêux tops the charts in luxury here.
